MCC Community News

On August 18, 2022, at the Pewitt CISD School Board meeting, members of the Morris County Collaborative (MCC) were awarded the Pewitt CISD “Community Hero of the Month” Award. The MCC is now in the Implementation Phase of a 5-year plan to provide resources and tools to the Morris County community that help residents increase their well-being.

Melissa Reid, Pewitt CISD Superintendent, expressed appreciation to MCC for their efforts over the past years including assisting with supplies during the COVID pandemic, partnering with Connected Nation Texas to expand Broadband and providing a community Internet portal on the MCC Website, beginning efforts to plan a community center, and most recently coordinated a Back-to-School event for all the students at Pewitt CISD. For the Back-to-School event MCC in collaboration with over 40 agencies, organizations, businesses, and faith-based communities, supplied every student a gift bag with essential school supplies. In addition, all the students at Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD received gift bags.

Members of the Morris County Collaborative chair various committees within the MCC Board. Martha Baker, MCC Resource Management was Chair and coordinator of the Back to School event. Mrs. Baker expressed appreciation of the award on the behalf of the members of the Morris County Collaborative. For more information about future events and news, please visit the MCC Website:
